Exercise How-Tos

What is a well balanced exercise program?

After 20 years of exercise prescriptions, LA Private Trainers has a formula for success that is unique to the industry. No two persons are the same and therefore Exercise recommendations are extremely personal. To suggest one exercise for everyone is a recipe for disaster. A woman in her 40's who wants to lose weight has a completely different exercise program than a man of 70 who wants to build muscle. Each age range offers unique challenges. LA Private Trainers offer exercise prescription for ages 9-90 with a detail in each of the components recommended below.

Motivation is the most important general recommendation we can make. Without some drive to change your current health and fitness, you will find exercise difficult to stick to. With motivation and a good exercise instructor, you can accomplish anything in fitness. There are three vital components to every exercise program. Doing any one of these is good for you, doing all three can offer you protection from disease.

Cardiovascular training - The function of the heart.
Your heart is pumping blood and oxygen at an average rate of 50-80 beats per minute. Improving function of your cardiovascular system will increase energy, aid in weight loss and weight control, improve mental function and stimulate all physical function in the body. Improving your cardiovascular system can change the course of your life.

Strength training - The endurance of the muscular system. The 650 muscles in the body are comprised of muscle fibers. These muscle fibers respond to our mental requests, our nutrition and our environment. Muscle is the body's big nutrient and oxygen user. A strong muscular system offers improved metabolization, protection of the skeletal system, and prevention of diseases like osteoporosis and diabetes.

Flexibility - The range of motion of the joints. The skeletal system is a beautifully engineered command post of bone joints and connective tissue. This intricate system takes a long time to develop and is replenished and nourished by nutrients, blood and oxygen.
